Joliet, Illinois police are investigating an alleged murder and subsequent suicide case, after a woman shot her daughters, then shot herself, People confirmed.
Celisa Henning, 41, and her daughters Addison and Makayla, 5, were found dead from gunshot wounds at their home on Monday, August 28, the Joliet police statement that People reported said. The note indicates that according to the Will County Coroner's Illinois office, the girls' mother was shot in the head. While the minors presented several bullet wounds.
It was Henning's husband and father of the girls who found the dead bodies of the three in their home. The man called 911 to report what happened.
People indicate that the police do not know the reasons that could have led Henning to commit the crime. Al Roechner, Joliet's police chief, said: "We really don't know why a person could murder their two beloved daughters like this and put the gun to them." Also, Roechner explained that it is very hard because they wished they could have avoided what happened.
For their part, Dennis Henning, the girls' paternal grandfather, described Celisa in the Daily SouthTown newspaper as a "deranged" person and said she apparently had health problems. Dennis also explained that his son had been trying to communicate with Celisa and the girls during the day. However, it was not until 3:30 pm that he arrived at his home and found himself lifeless. Henning told People that his son is still in mourning.
