Authorities from San Antonio, Texas, have confirmed the death of the tenth victim of a group of immigrants who were found Sunday inside a trailer parked outside a Walmart store in that city.

According to official sources, the deceased whose name has not been revealed has been left inside the vehicle along with his companions since Saturday night. Early on Sunday, a Walmart employee alerted authorities that something strange was going on inside the trailer after a man approached the store asking for water.

Upon answering the call, police discovered eight lifeless bodies, plus 39 people seriously affected by the heat, including two 15-year-old boys. Several of them showed signs of dehydration and heat stroke, including excessively hot skin to the touch and extremely fast heartbeat.

"From what you see in the video from the store's security cameras, there were several cars that [during the night] came and picked up many of those who were inside the trailer and who survived the trip," said the Police Chief William McManus on CNN.

For his part, Thomas Horman, acting director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE), reported in a statement that some survivors have revealed that there were approximately 100 people inside the truck, many of whom managed to flee.

"Unfortunately, some of them severely overheated and that was a truck with a [refrigeration] system that was not working," said fire department chief Charles Hood, who assisted in the rescue. "Many of them are going to have irreversible brain damage," he said.

According to various sources, the interior of the trailer reached 115 degrees Fahrenheit due to the high temperatures in the city - which reached 101 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the MySa.com site reported that the trailer's driver, James M. Bradley Jr., 60, who lives in Florida, was booked into federal prison Sunday for his alleged role in the events. District Attorney Richard Durbin called the terrible event "an immigrant smuggling company that went terribly wrong."
