A 17-year-old student was found dead inside her friend's car, who later committed suicide. Colorado police suspect it is a murder and suicide case. On January 14, the body of Mya Peña was found inside the car of her friend Samuel Hoffman, 18 years old. The two had been friends for several years, according to reports.

Police suspect Hoffman killed Peña while they were in his car in a parking lot near Mile High Academy in Highlands Ranch, where she was going to school. The cause or motive for the young woman's death has not yet been revealed. Police discovered the body of the missing student inside Hoffman's car, who was parked on Interstate 25. When he saw police approaching the vehicle, Hoffman was shot and killed.

"All of us who knew Mya will miss her very much," said her best friend Emily in a GoFundMe account created to raise funds for the young woman's family, who played soccer on her school team. Last Thursday the family held a vigil in her honor. The deaths of Pena and Hoffman remain under investigation. As reported by Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock, Hoffman allegedly had a history of mental illness.
