As if running 26.2 miles was not a feat in itself, a Montana mother joined the small group of women who have done so with one element that increases the difficulty: pushing a cart with her three young children.

The most incredible? She did it in record time.

According to the Health website, Theresa Marie Pitts, 38, ran the 26.2 miles of the Missoula, Utah marathon on July 10, pushing the triple stroller of her children along the entire route. She did it in the prodigious time of 4 hours, 25 minutes and 37 seconds.

With that time it broke the mark that the Guinness World Records book had recognized a woman who ran a marathon also pushing a triple stroller with children, but it took 11 more seconds.

To all these surprises we must add that this is the first marathon that Pitts has run in his entire life, something he did to overcome his state of mind. "I was slumped with depression … Looking for a healthy way to get back on track mentally, physically and spiritually," she said.

A couple of years ago, this mother of eight children started running 5-kilometer races and, little by little, the distance increased. When her eighth daughter was born, she started training more seriously and with the triple stroller.

To keep her children from feeling uncomfortable, her mother says she put a lot of pillows and cushions around their heads.

Pitts began training for the marathon while she was pregnant with her eighth child. "It was winter, so most of my runs were done on a treadmill," she explained.

But once her newborn daughter was five weeks old, she began “serious training” in long distance running with her three youngest children in the triple stroller.

Although reaching the goal while pushing 150 pounds - her children are 4 and 2 years old, and the baby 5 months old - was not easy, she says she did not give up because she wants to be an example of "mental resistance" for her children and "help them develop the attitude of 'there are no excuses, I can do difficult things!'”.
