An investigation by The Washington Post revealed that in several golf clubs owned by President Donald Trump, a cover of Time magazine is displayed with its image that is false.
The newspaper explains that in at least five clubs in the Trump chain the false cover is hung where the country's first president appears. The headlines that accompany the image read: "Donald Trump: The 'Apprentice' is a huge hit on television!".
Above the Time magazine logo is this other headline: "Trump is successful on all fronts … Even on television!" In the article, they detail how this magazine cover dated March 1, 2009 presents what seems to be a great moment for Trump during his years prior to occupying the presidency of the United States.
The note exposes that said cover could seem to those who visit his clubs as a sign that Trump has always been a man of relevance. What's more, The Washington Post says that being Trump at the time a reality star, “he was the type of celebrity who would have a cover story on Time. But this was not true. The Time cover is fake."
It also details the note that there were no covers with Trump in TIME magazine during 2009. The cover that Time published on March 2, 2009 has actress Kate Winslet on its cover.
Time magazine confirmed to the newspaper via email that the cover was indeed false. In addition, a Time spokesperson explained to the Post that he had asked the Trump organization to remove the covers of all its clubs.
Trump's team did not answer questions about who made that cover and why it was located in his golf clubs.
