Darwin Martínez Torres, a 22-year-old undocumented Salvadoran, is the main suspect in the murder of the young Muslim Nabra Hassanen in Virginia.

According to the police of that state, the 17-year-old was walking with a group of young people during a break from the prayer period in the mosque she was attending located in the Sterling area when she ran into Martínez Torres. After a confrontation with the young man, those accompanying Hassanen ran - the group was about 15 people - and the girl disappeared from there, The Associated Press agency reported.

In the process of searching for the young woman, the authorities arrested Martínez Torres, whom they considered a suspicious driver. After questioning him, the individual took them to a pond near his residence where the girl's remains were found, highlights the AP cable.

Police reports state that the individual hit Hassanen with a metal bat on the head, put her in the car, and then threw her into the water, reports Fox News. In addition, the FOX newscast indicated that the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) said that Martinez Torres is an undocumented immigrant.

Authorities ruled out that the incident was a hate crime based on race or religion. Even so far it is being treated as a case of driver rabies. But the victim's father asks for an investigation into why the suspect attacked his daughter in this way. "We don't know this man at all," Hassanen's father told the CBS newscast This Morning. "He had no reason."
