Texas authorities believe they have recovered the body of the 33-year-old mother from the sea who lost her life trying to save her son on a beach Monday afternoon.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Brandy Mosley and his family were at Crystal Beach for a nice time when a wave washed up their 4-year-old son offshore. Immediately, she and another family member entered the water to help him.

Although the other person managed to return to the shore with the little one, the mother was no longer seen.

"When they turned to look, they were no longer seen," said Maj. Douglas Hudson of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. "This happened very quickly and about 25 feet from shore."

The Coast Guard and a helicopter joined the search. "What was really sad was seeing the rescue plane come and go," said one witness, Laura Blackburn. "We searched and searched, we all searched for an hour or two, a couple of hours searching for it."

The search ended up being canceled Tuesday morning after a body matching its description was discovered about two kilometers from where it was last seen. Authorities indicated that it is most likely the body of Mosley, but it would be necessary to wait for fingerprints to confirm it.

Family and friends gathered on Tuesday in the Reagan Park in the city of Palestine to express their condolences to those closest to the deceased, who was described as a great friend, capable of doing anything to make others feel good, a successful businesswoman who had her own spa, but mostly as a heroic mother who literally gave her life for her son.
