Richard Anthony Jones spent 17 years in prison sentenced to serve a sentence for a robbery he never committed.

After repeating over and over again that he was innocent of the crime, he finally found the man who had committed the crime and was identical to him. It looked like his double, says the news published by the BBC.

Jones explained that the fact that a photo of the other man was found that looks too much like him was incredible. It was something like finding "a needle in a haystack," Jones said.

He also told the Kansas City Star newspaper that he felt blessed. "I do not believe in luck, I think I was blessed," said the man sentenced by mistake.

The man was released because he discovered he had a double. Both look impressive in front and in profile. Also, at the time they wore the same hairstyle and a padlock-style beard.

Jones had been accused of stealing a wallet, but according to Good Morning America reports there was never any evidence or DNA tests that confirmed that he was the one who committed the wrongdoing. At the description of the alleged man who had committed the crime, he found a photo of Jones.

For more than fifteen years, Jones tried to get an appeal in court, the ABC show report says.

How was the dilemma finally resolved? The BBC details that in 2015 Jones sought help from the Midwest Innocence Project, an organization that works with prisoners who claim to be innocent. He explained to them that other inmates said that there was a man identical to him by the name of "Ricky". After the new evidence, he was released by District Judge Kevin Moriarty, the note states.
