Katy Perry Goes To American Idol

Katy Perry will be part of the new season of American Idol. This was announced by the ABC network through its official accounts on social networks and the singer herself in a statement.

"I am honored and excited to be the first judge to bring back the tradition of American Idol," said Perry in a press release, "to make dreams of incredible talents come true with authentic personalities and true stories."

“I am always listening to new music, and I love discovering rough diamonds; from supporting young artists on my label to introducing new artists on my tours, and I want to get back to music,”he added.

In addition, he uploaded a photograph to his Instagram and Twitter accounts where he is seen posing with the logo of this popular broadcast. “Excited that @ABCNetwork brings back @AmericanIdol and I want to take you back to MUSIC. See you at the auditions”, was the text with which the interpreter of“I Kissed a Girl”accompanied the image.

Perry is the first celebrity confirmed to be part of the qualifying panel in this singer contest where figures such as Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Katharine McPhee, among others, have emerged.

The American Idol broadcast was canceled after 15 seasons by the Fox network due to low audience ratings, presenting its latest installment in 2016. In it, the judges were Jennifer López, Keith Urban and Harry Cornick Jr., while the driving was in charge of Ryan Seacrest.

ABC will now relaunch this program for its 2017-2018 season.
