They Plan New Requirements For Travelers

President Donald Trump's immigration policy not only includes increasing the deportation of undocumented immigrants and reducing the income of immigrant workers, but also includes greater scrutiny of tourists entering the United States that could include extreme measures such as demanding the password of social networks.

According to The Wall Street Journal, foreigners who want to cross the US border even when it is a short trip, "could be forced to reveal their mobile phone contacts, social media passwords and financial records."

Likewise, travelers should be willing to answer questions about their political ideas.

In February, in a hearing before the National Security commission of the House of Representatives, the Secretary of National Security, John Kelly, had mentioned that possibility when he said that the current administration wanted “to have the possibility of consulting social networks (of the travelers) with their passwords”.

But that's not all, this tightening of immigration laws would also imply that visa applicants from around the world, including allied United States countries like Germany and France, would face more rigorous security reviews that would force embassies and consulates Invest more time interviewing each applicant.

The Journal warns that these types of requirements will generate even more controversy about Trump's policies and could generate protests by civil liberties defenders for considering these demands as an interference in the personal lives of travelers.

On the other hand, there is the possibility that other countries may impose similar requirements on Americans traveling to other countries. That's not counting the possible damage that can be generated in the American tourism industry if the hardening of entry processes scares away tourists.
