Michelle Stevens, who became her stepfather's sex slave when she was 8 years old, recounts her nightmare in Scared Selfless: My Journey from Abuse and Madness to Surviving and Thriving, where she recounts the double life she led during her long martyrdom.

In the book, of which People will share some segments in its next edition, Stevens narrates how he suffered at the hands of Gary Lundquist, who became his stepfather and torturer. Thus, she attended school day by day like any other younger than her age, but at night she became the servant of her sexual perversions.

In an interview with the magazine, the 48-year-old woman who lives in Pasadena, CA, related that it all started the night he locked her in a cage and began "training" her through torture.

It also describes how his stepfather hid his dark side under a perfect facade, as he was a fifth grade school teacher. This contributed to his being able to continue raping and torturing her practically throughout his childhood, even after he was sentenced in 1985 to 3 years probation for illicit behavior with two girls at the school where he taught.

The double life she led left her with serious psychological consequences that over time led her to develop a dissociative identity disorder or multiple personality.

"I was a victim and I understand that now," he said. "But the stigma around mental illness is huge. And the stigma around multiple personalities, even more.”

As a defense mechanism, Stevens developed amnesia and was only able to escape his stepfather when he went to college. Later he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he captured the memories that came to his memory in the form of flashbacks, and that will be released on March 21.

Lundquist died in 1997 without ever responding to justice to his stepdaughter's allegations.
