19-year-old Boy Would Have Murdered His 9-year-old Neighbor

The alleged perpetrator of a terrible crime that has impacted German society turned himself in to authorities on Thursday. Marcel Hesse, 19, was wanted as the man responsible for the murder of his 9-year-old neighbor and for posing with his body. He is also suspected of murdering another young man of 22, giving him 68 stabs.

According to the Spanish newspaper El País, Hesse asked a neighbor of his named Jaden on Monday to help him at his home, where he murdered him. Crime investigators discovered in the so-called Darknet or Dark Internet images in which he posed next to the body of the little boy while confessing to the crime.

I just killed my neighbor. The truth is that I don't feel very special. My hands are bleeding. It's the only thing that bothers me,”she says on the recording.

Immediately, the police issued an order to find him, while warning of his danger. Frightened, the inhabitants of Herne, the town where the tragedy occurred, prevented the children from playing on the streets.

After three days and more than 1,500 leads received, the local police were still unable to apprehend him. Finally, the same young man was the one who came to a Greek restaurant and said: "I am the one you are looking for, please call the police."

When he was being arrested, the young man gave clues to the authorities of a fire in a nearby home. When they came to the scene, they discovered the corpse of a young man who had received 68 stab wounds.

The state prosecutor for the city of Bochum, a city near Herne, said Hesse, who has no criminal record, confessed to having carried out the two crimes and that, before committing the first, he had considered committing suicide. It was also said that he admitted that he took images of the dead boy, but says that it was not he who posted them on the net.

Addressing the media, the prosecutor admitted that there are doubts about the suspect's mental health and his confession, even though he remembers very well specific details of both crimes.
