Boy Murdered At His Birthday Party

Chaquone Watson, 7, and his mother Carla Queeley, were killed by a man who broke into their home in Miami with other armed subjects to rob them. That day was celebrating the boy's birthday party, who was dressed in her Spiderman costume when she was shot, according to The Miami Herald.

The crime occurred in October 2006 and the killer, Sean Condell, was sentenced on May 9 to spend the rest of his days in prison, PEOPLE confirmed.

Condell and four other subjects arrived at the residence in North Miami Dade County and raided the house, mistakenly thinking that they would find a safe full of drug money there, as reported by NBC2.

In addition to Chaquone and his mother who died, four other people at the party were injured, including two other children, a Miami-Dade prosecutor's office official told PEOPLE.

It took more than a decade to bring Condell to justice. "I hope you reflect on your senseless crimes while you wait for death to free you from prison," Judge Ellen Sue Venzer told her in sentencing according to The Miami Herald.

The newspaper adds that the judge told the murderer when issuing her sentence: “One can imagine that this boy wanted to have the powers of Spider-Man while hiding under his cloak of terror that you created, but could not. His mother - a true superhero - showed courage by trying to cover her son with his body from bullets. She also could not defend him from evil, from his evil Mr. Condell."
