An elderly woman was brutally beaten while shopping at a Walmart store in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sandra McClung, 75, explained to the local WALB News station that everything happened very quickly. "I thought she was safe. She was at Walmart. Something must have happened to her, because you don't do that," she said.

McClung was using an electric scooter from the store to move around the store when he ran into his attacker, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to a police report, the victimizer insulted McClung for obstructing his path. When McClung was pulling away, he cursed her to himself, causing the enraged attack in which he was hit in the face several times, as the newspaper says.

"She starts punching me in the face with all her strength, which can be seen by how she carried my face, which was quite strong," McClung told the news network.

"I had my glasses on and she kept hitting me and then punched me in the mouth, so I have her very bruised," she explained to another television station, WSB-TV.

Meanwhile, McClung says help was too long in coming. "I was yelling, 'Help!'. No one came."

Walmart security finally made an appearance and then McClung noticed that his attacker's phone had fallen into his bag.

"The cell phone fell into my bag," McClung told WSB-TV. "It seems that God did that so we could find her."

Editorial Note: Although the police had initially considered the person under whose name the cell phone was registered as a suspect, they later confirmed that the cell phone had been stolen and its owner had nothing to do with the incident.
