Couple Abandons Their Daughter On Valentine's Day

A couple from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was arrested for allegedly abandoning their 5-year-old daughter with a complete stranger on Valentine's Day.

At around 1:00 pm ET Tuesday, Shane White, 37, and Lacey Allen, 32, left the little girl with an unknown woman, saying they would be back in about 45 minutes, but never returned.

According to the local channel WAFB 9, the woman contacted the authorities, who took care of the minor and began a search for the couple, which they found at around 8 pm in a motel that they had registered as their residence.

The policemen who went to the motel at first did not find them and were surprised when the couple finally arrived: they had another little girl, this 2-year-old, and their vehicle was full of garbage and dirty diapers.

Inspection of the motel room showed that White and Allen only had an empty milk bottle in the fridge and the house was dirty, full of rotten food scattered everywhere.

Both minors were placed in charge of the Louisiana family and children's services agency while their parents face charges of child abandonment and cruelty to a minor.
