The good eye of the stewardess Shelia Fedrick served to free a teenage girl who was a victim of human trafficking.

According to NBC News, the 49-year-old stewardess was working on a flight between Seattle and San Francisco from Alaska Airlines when she noticed that a young lady who "seemed to have been through hell itself" was sitting by the window next to a very elegant mature man.

The smart flight attendant tried to talk with the young woman, whose age ranged from 14 to 15 years old, and with her companion. But her attitude was very defensive, so she was intrigued and left a note in the bathroom for the young woman, asking if she needed help. She wrote him back on that same piece of paper stating that he did indeed need her.

Frederick communicated to the pilot what was happening and he in turn contacted San Francisco authorities, who detained the mysterious man when the plane landed.

Her account came to light recently at a meeting of airline employees who met in Houston, Texas, last week to learn how to spot such cases.

According to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service, 2,000 human traffickers were arrested last year and 400 victims were identified.
