In the wake of the decree to ban travelers and refugees signed by President Donald Trump last weekend that prohibits access to the United States of immigrants and refugees from seven countries in the next 120 days, several companies have announced that they plan to support people affected by the president's decisions.

Starbucks director Howard Schultz says his company plans to hire 10,000 refugees in the next five years in the 75 countries in which it operates.

In a letter issued to his employees Sunday, Schultz says, He plans to start this effort here in the United States by focusing on hiring people who have served as interpreters in the military and supporting staff in the countries that our forces navies have asked for support.”

At the moment, Starbucks has around 238,000 employees worldwide, of which 157,000 legally work on American soil.

Schultz also directly addressed the potential effects that "the proposed trade sanctions, immigration restrictions and taxes" could have on his company's business in Mexico, where it says it has nearly 600 stores:

"We are ready to help and support our Mexican customers, partners and their families as the proposed trade sanctions, immigration restrictions and taxes impact," said Schultz. "But we will continue to invest in this important market at the same time."

Other companies like Google, Apple, Twitter, and Facebook also teamed up to reject Trump's decisions. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, also issued a statement to his employees.

"Apple would not exist without immigration, let alone prosper and innovate the way we do," he said.
