The former French prime minister and candidate for the primaries of the French center-left party Manuel Valls was attacked during a public act in Brittany, France, by an 18-year-old man who was immediately reduced.
The politician was visiting the region when he approached a group of people who were waiting for him outside the town hall in the town of Lamballe. Upon reaching the place where the aggressor was, the cameras of Le Télégramme captured how he rebuked him and then slapped him.
The recording also shows the rapid reaction of the Valls security team, who shortly after the attack played down what had happened, saying that "it is not what interests him the most" during his visit to Brittany and that there are always people seeking to "hinder democracy", as the newspaper Le Monde has reported.
