A Cessna Citation 525 aircraft carrying three children and three adults disappeared last night in the Lake Erie area, shortly after taking off from Burke Lakefront Airport, northeast of Cleveland, Ohio.
As reported by the Associated Press, air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft shortly after taking off from that airport, on the shore of Lake Erie.
Three adults and three children were traveling on the plane, who are believed to have attended the basketball game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics, who played last night at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Authorities reported that last night, due to weather conditions, their search for survivors could not be conducted, but as of this morning, a crew from the Detroit Coast Guard Air Station is searching for them by helicopter. Members of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Cutter Bristol Bay Detroit Coast Guard also joined the search.
So far none of the rescuers have seen any debris, but have already detected a weak clue from an emergency transmitter.
