Hated Italian Hunter Dies In A Hunt

An Italian veterinarian who had earned a legion of critics for displaying the pieces he hunted in the nets died last week of falling into a ravine while hunting birds near Turin.

Luciano Ponzetto, 55, plunged from around 100 feet when he apparently lost his balance in a rugged area where he was hunting alongside a group of friends, according to British newspaper The Sun.

"He died instantly, nothing could be done," an Italian police spokesman told the newspaper. "It looks like he slipped."

Ponzetto entered the black list of animal defenders and even received death threats, when last year he showed off the nets of the big game pieces that had been collected during a safari in Tanzania. In one of the images he is seen smiling next to a lion shot dead.

He could also be seen in his nets posing in other hunts with a jaguar, a ram and a boar, among other animals.

His case was similar to that of the Minnesota dentist who had a worldwide antipathy last year when he killed the beloved lion Cecil during a hunt in Zimbabwe.

Despite the criticism, which included a protest in front of his clinic in Turin, Ponzetto defended his right to hunt as long as it was a legal practice and in his exercise no law was violated, while he considered that his hobby was not “morally incompatible”With his profession.

His death was pointed out by his critics in the networks as an example of the principle of karma, according to which bad actions end up being charged.
