On the night of the presidential election in the United States, Michelle Obama did not wait for the final results and went to bed. This was revealed when interviewed for the article that illustrates the most recent cover of People magazine.

Despite being one of the people who most supported the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, the First Lady revealed that not even the count of the electoral votes took her sleep that night:

"I went to bed. I don't see debates”, he commented. "I don't like to see the political speech. I've never done".

The president's wife, who in her years in the White House has maintained a perfect balance between her family and her community work, explained why she did not lose sleep on that historic evening: “Once you did what you should do then you rest easy. It's in the hands of the Americans."

With the same calm that has always characterized it, it does not back down from the criticism it made at the time against President-elect Donald Trump. I think everything I felt about the election I already said. And I hold it. This is our democracy and that's how it works.”

Despite maintaining a very different vision from Trump, Mrs. Obama commented that she will collaborate as much as possible with both him and his wife and his cabinet: “We are ready to work with the next administration and make sure they are as successful as they can be because it is the best for our country."

The surprising statements are part of People's exclusive interview with the First Lady and her husband, the President of the United States, Barack Obama. It appears in the December 19 issue.
