A 3-year-old boy who was found beaten, covered in feces and unconscious a few days ago at his home in Brooklyn, New York, ended up dying in a hospital on Saturday.
Little Jaden Jorden was admitted to the Coney Island hospital center last week after suffering a serious brain injury allegedly at the hands of his mother's boyfriend, Salvatore Lucchesse, 24.
According to Lucchesse, the minor slipped in the bathtub while bathing him and tried to give him first aid.
Lucchesse, who called 911 for help, has so far been charged with four counts of assault, according to the New York daily Daily News. With the boy's death, the prosecution is expected to rise to murder.
After five days waiting for his recovery, the little boy was disconnected from the machines that kept him alive last Saturday night at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. “It was devastating when the machine went offline. It's difficult,”the boy's father, Guseyn Aliyev, 37, told the newspaper.
New York social services had received an anonymous complaint last November 26 about the conditions in which the child lived, but they were unable to intervene in time because the people who alerted them gave them the wrong address.
