The announced hearing that was scheduled for this March 20 in the case for alleged homicide against Pablo Layle has been canceled due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

This was announced on Tuesday by the Associated Press agency after receiving the news from Bruce Lehr, one of the Mexican actor's lawyers. According to said source, for now the court will only attend cases of emergencies and major hearings. The case is brought up by Judge Marlene Fernández-Karavetsos, in Miami-Dade County.

In this hearing, Fernández-Karavetsos would be informed of the state of the appeal of the 32-year-old actor, who is accused of involuntary manslaughter after a vehicular incident that resulted in the death of Mr. Juan Ricardo Hernández. The intention was to follow up on the lawyers' argument on self-defense.

In early May, the actor from series such as The Shadow of the Past and My Adorable Curse was formally charged with the manslaughter charge during a brief appearance in which Judge Alan Fine kept him on bail bond before the court in Miami.:

Lyle's attorneys in January speaking to the press about the case:

Lyle currently lives under the conditions imposed by the arrest judge with electronic monitoring and according to sources is in his sister's apartment in Miami.

"He has to maintain his residence in that house by permission of the judge, but also, he has no other restrictions," his lawyers explained in January. "In March we will notify the judge if the appeal court has already decided on our appeal, after we made a clarification from judge [ Alan] Fine saying that he made a legal error in deciding our self-defense motion."

"He has a positive attitude," they said. "He is concerned about the case, like anyone else, but he has a positive attitude, he has confidence in his lawyers, in his family and he is ready to defend himself in court."
