Someone took the time to study in depth and in parallel the instagram accounts of Lady Di's children and it seems that something is not entirely clear…. How can it be that the account of the Dukes of Cambridge always has more followers than that of the Dukes of Sussex, the latter being more popular around the world, as Google searches attest? Something smells singe!

The prestigious New York Times outlet was the one who gave the alert that something was wrong in their calculations. The Dukes of Cambridge @KensigntonRoyal account was created in 2015 for William, Kate and Harry.

Almost three years later, they only had two and a half million followers, while the day they announced the engagement of Harry and Meghan, the account increased to 100,000 more followers and reached over seven million until the day the Dukes of Sussex they decided to create their own. In short, Meghan's foray into the royal family supported a growth of 5 million followers to the account of Kate and William in just over a year.

The same day the Dukes of Sussex opened @SussexRoyal in April 2019 they achieved a million follows and already had almost eight million followers just a month later! Hopefully they would quickly outgrow their brothers-in-law's account… something that never happened.

How can it be that the day that Meghan and Harry published the first photo of Archie's little feet, Kate and William's account gained more than 40,000 followers without posting anything?

There are a large number of theories trying to figure out why the Dukes of Cambridge's account keeps up with the Dukes of Sussex's, both right now with 11.2 million followers. Are they buying them from Buckingham Palace?

The instagram war is reflected even in the latest headlines in the UK media, such as this one from the Daily Mail: “The Cambridge and Sussex posts on Instagram only an hour apart and Harry has 84,000 more likes than his brother, The same day the Duke of Sussex returned to fulfill one of his last public acts as a member of royalty.
