When everything seemed that the exit of the royalty of the Dukes of Sussex would happen in a calm way, even too soft, as the subjects of Queen Elizabeth complained when they saw how friendly the tone of their sovereign was, everything changed color during these last days.
Faced with the monarch's sudden ban on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle using their Sussex-Royal brand, Archie's parents had to duck their heads and give up their premeditated plan, at least as far as their brand is concerned.
But the recent official statement from the dukes announcing that they will stop using their brand, reveals the reality of their difficult situation, according to Town & Country royalty expert Victoria Murphy.
From the cold title of the statement, very different from the style of the previous ones, Spring 2020 Transition Details, to the frustration that can be read in its second line: “We would have liked to have been allowed to share these details with you before, to quell any confusion or misinformation…”, everything shows that they were prohibited from speaking before the matter, something that undoubtedly does not make them happy at all.
After referring to the media again as the cause of her agony, they reiterated once again that their preference was "to continue representing Her Majesty the queen, although resigning the Sovereing Grant and in a somewhat limited way", another way of complaining that they couldn't have the last word on this either.
Furthermore, they reaffirm that they feel badly treated by their family by saying that they are being treated differently from other royalty members who preceded them, because there were precedents in “other members of the royal family who sought employment outside the institution”.
One more detail: you can read between the lines that it was not their decision either to close their office, since they use the word sadness when referring to the way they had to dismiss their employees in London: “the Dukes of Sussex shared the news with their team personally, once they were informed of the decision,”that is, they make it clear that they did not decide entirely.
Difficult moments for Meghan and Harry, who have yet to finish closing with their sovereign grandmother the transition that will take place this March with their official departure and the end of the Megxit.
