Romeo Santos paid tribute to Kobe Bryant during a recent concert in Los Angeles, wearing the shirt of the late NBA star. The Dominican singer also dedicated heartfelt words to Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna after their tragic death in a helicopter in California on January 26. A video shared on social networks by actress Celinés Toribio and on the Instagram of the program El Gordo y La Flaca (Univision) shows the bachatero talking about Kobe Bryant before a moved audience and repeatedly shouting the name of the athlete.
"I read in a place that heroes have their season, that they come and go, and then a phrase follows that legends never die," Romeo said. “I respectfully put on this shirt in honor of that legend, may God have him in glory, his beautiful girl and all the victims who went through that tragedy sadly. We love you Kobe."
Marc Anthony also paid tribute to Kobe Bryant during a concert in Boston in January. The salsa player showed Bryant's shirt and a giant photo of the basketball player on stage before going out to sing his hit “Live my life.”
The Puerto Rican singer also shared a photo of his encounter with Kobe Bryant with his friend, footballer David Beckham in a Lakers game. "When you shake hands with an angel," Marc wrote in his Instagram post. "May you rest in peace my beautiful brother. May love and peace embrace the families of all involved. So sad".
The basketball player was also remembered during the Super Bowl. The 49ers and Chiefs teams dedicated a moment of silence to honor the families and friends of the deceased in that helicopter. Photos of Kobe and his daughter were shown at the stadium. "They would never be forgotten," said the host of the game. During the presentation of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, a giant cross illuminated in yellow and purple was also shown, the colors of the Lakers, the team that Bryant belonged to.
