Karla Monroig Stars In Returns To Puerto Rico

After living in the United States, where she has had an important professional career, Karla Monroig returns to her native Puerto Rico as the star of the movie Yerba Buena. Which will be released in that country on January 30, and speaks, precisely, of the possibilities to get ahead after the passage of Hurricane Maria in that country.

“It is difficult to explain the sensation and wonderful energy that I feel in my soul every time I am in Puerto Rico. I had to live the story of the hurricane from the diaspora and it was desperate and painful,”Monroig explained to the media. "Yerba Buena shows the difficulties that Puerto Ricans experienced after Hurricane Maria, and how their positive attitude, resilience, ingenuity, perseverance and the union of the communities was crucial to recover and rise up."

In the tape, inspired by real events, the actress plays Sonia, a woman who must search for options to get ahead and finds her through the medicinal benefits of marijuana.

"Being able to explore what the Puerto Rican lived on the island through my character Sonia was even more so [to understand the crisis after the hurricane]," he added. "The story is inspired by real events including how medical cannabis helped a cancer patient cope with the discomfort of the disease in the absence of electricity, basic resources and treatment at the time."

Karla Monroig shares credits with Isel Rodríguez and Jessica Rodríguez, in this film directed and written by Bruno Irizarry and produced by Lizaida Rivera.
