Faced with the disaster that occurred this week in the British royal family, just as the new decade began, many try to find culprits for the fissure that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry caused to the crown that Queen Elizabeth II wears with so much aplomb. Once again, the Duchess of Sussex, the last to join the family, has much to lose.
Centennial traditions weigh heavily on European consciences and perhaps therein lies the secret: Meghan Markle is an American, the land of freedom, as she is often called. The harassment and criticism of her were truly inhumane and at some point, the drop filled the glass and the Dukes of Sussex's forward flight had no turning back.
The writer Morgan Jerkins, author of the best seller "This will be my undoing" thought this way about the reasons that led Meghan Markle to make her drastic decision:

The figure of Meghan Markle would never have been chosen as the first choice for members of the monarchy or the British media. She was always an intruder, even more because of her racial profile, and her actions are now a true poetic justice: she was destined to break protocol, because she never belonged to it.”
He also remembers a notorious interview with Lady Di, Prince Harry's late mother, another stranger to the British monarchy who was enormously unhappy in the royal family, when the Princess of Wales confessed to the BBC that she did not think she would become queen: Because I do things differently from them, I don't strictly follow the rules. They are guided by the head and I by the heart”.
Morgan Jerkins, editor of Zora magazine, which gives a voice to women of color, feels that the Megxit is a solidarity victory, since by detaching from tradition, “Meghan and Harry reconfirm to the world that rules and regulations do not they can be above the humanity of the people”.
