The Madame Tussauds museum removed the wax statues of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the royal family's exhibit. The event has caused a stir. The famous London museum made the decision just hours after the Dukes of Sussex's surprise announcement that they would become independent from English royalty. The exhibit previously featured statues of Archie's parents next to Queen Elizabeth (in the middle) and Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton. Now the queen appears alone with the future heirs to the crown and the space to her left (formerly occupied by Harry and Meghan) has been noticeably empty.

The museum expressed its reasoning in a statement. "Like the rest of the world, we are reacting to the surprising news that the Dukes of Sussex will be moving away from royalty," said director Steve Davies. "As two of our most popular and beloved figures, of course [the statues] will continue to be an important element in Madame Tussauds London as we see what's in store for them [the dukes] in the next chapter."

Harry and Meghan announced that they are becoming independent from the royal family with the following message on their Instagram account: “After many months of internal reflection and discussion, we have chosen to make a transition this year to begin to forge a new progressive role within this institution. We intend to step back as primary members of the royal family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty the Queen [ Elizabeth II].”

The couple also communicated their intention to divide their residence between the United Kingdom and the United States, where Markle is from, without abandoning her "duty" to the Crown. "This geographical balance will allow us to raise our child with an appreciation of the royal tradition in which he was born, while providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, which includes the launch of our new charitable entity," they added..

The figures of the popular couple will now be displayed in a section of the museum called the "world stage." Their wax clones were unveiled at Madame Tussauds in May 2018, shortly before their lavish wedding, and now they have a 'new home', just like dukes in real life.
