Little by little we have learned the personal stories of the presenters of Despierta América (Univision) through the series Who are we? This morning it was Chef Yisus' turn.

Today he is the star chef of the morning cooking delicious dishes daily and sharing his recipes. However, few knew that the passion for cooking was not with him since he was a child and his culinary skills would not reach his life until he became an adult.

The first love and dream for which the Venezuelan left his native country was sports. Jesus dreamed of playing in the big leagues, so he moved to the United States on a scholarship from West Palm Beach Community College.

"I always saw baseball as the great possibility to move to this country," he said in an interview with his partner Eli Angélica González, adding that his parents made a sacrifice to move to American soil with him.

Among familiar themes, chef Yisus spoke of his mother, who suffered a terrible diagnosis of cancer and whom she describes as a tireless warrior.

“That was a pretty strong time. My mom had pancreatic cancer detected two years ago and we do know that the old men leave at some point, it is the most natural thing. But I needed my mother for much longer, "he confessed. “She went through chemo, she had her therapy and a miracle occurs. 70 percent of my pancreas was removed from my mom."

Yisus' mother, whom she describes as a "war tank", has to have quarterly check-ups after being delicate.

What would you say to your mother?

“Take away that image for which she worked so hard, the one she cared for so much. She accomplished her mission."
