Chef Yisus Reveals The Cover Of His First Book

After succeeding on the small screen as the heartthrob of Despierta América (Univision), chef Yisus debuts as a writer with his first cookbook whose cover he revealed on Tuesday at the morning show.

Wrapped by his companions, the Venezuelan proudly presented the cover of Delicious Cuisine (Penguin Random House), in which he shares his favorite recipes, many of them with a strong family bond.

“The book is mostly a tribute to the kitchen. For everything he has given me because of the opportunities he has given me,”the chef, whose real name is Jesús Díaz, and who found among pots and pans the success he failed to achieve in sports, his first passion, told People en Español..

After immigrating to the United States at 17, what started as a restaurant job to earn a living gradually became her profession. Although, the chef has been cooking since childhood.

"If I remember, the first [recipe I cooked] would be [the Venezuelan dessert] La Marquesa with my sister [ Endrina Díaz]," he recalled. "As I mention in the book, I was her assistant since I was little every time she made a dessert."

Put to point out a recipe to which he has a particular affection, he pointed to the lentil patties. "It was one of the things I missed most about my mom when I came to the United States without her," he said.

Off the set, his world revolves around the family he has created with his wife Julianna Ateortuba and their daughters Anabella and Silvia, who do not give him a truce with the stove over the weekend. "They ask daddy to make them their breakfasts," he observed.
