This morning, the American designer Ralph Lauren has announced that the foundation that bears his name will donate. There has always been a spirit of community that inspires our creativity and, most importantly, our mutual support. In the last weeks and months that spirit has not wavered, he explains in a statement. “We believe that no matter who you are or where you are from, we are all connected. So we are taking this significant step to help our team and our community in this crisis.”

The designer will divide this generous sum between 4 associations that are helping in this fight: Emergency Assistance Foundation for Ralph Lauren employees who need special help, whether it is medical or childcare or the elderly; the fund of the World Health Organization in its response to the coronavirus crisis; the Pink Pony Cancer Foundation to support institutions that care for cancer patients who are especially vulnerable at the moment; The Council of Designers of America (CFDA) to support those affected by the pandemic in this community.

In addition to this donation, according to the designer in a statement to the media, the store is also working on the manufacture of masks and medical equipment for health personnel who are on the front lines of battle to stop the spread of the virus.

This initiative joins other major fashion brands, such as the LVMH group, which includes brands such as Fendi, Givenchy or Dior, which has donated 40 million masks or Kering, the parent company of firms such as Gucci, Alexander McQueen and Yves Saint Laurent, who has donated 3 million face masks from China to the French health service. Designer Giorgio Armani, for his part, has also donated more than a million euros to the Italian hospital network.
