If there's one event that fashion fans are looking forward to even more than the Oscars themselves, it's the MET Gala. The fashion festival organized by the prestigious New York museum together with the director of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour, will take place on May 4 and we finally know this year's theme: time and duration.

After the success of the previous galas with themes with a more abstract concept or open to interpretation such as last year's Notes on Camp, or the influence of religion on fashion the previous one, this time the exhibition and the gala delve into the concept of time, based on the history of fashion from 1870 until today and inspired by the concept of the durée (the duration, in French) that the French philosopher Henri Bergson described as "time that flows, accumulates and is indivisible", and in the work of the writer Virgina Wolf.

"The exhibition will explore how clothing generates temporary associations that combine the past, present and future," they explain from the organization in a statement to the media.

This year the guests of honor who will preside over the gala alongside Anna Wintour will be the writer, actor and director Lin-Manuel Miranda, the actresses Emma Stone and Meryl Streep, and Louis Vuitton designer and creative director Nicholas Ghesquière.
