More than 15 years after her death, María Felix remains one of the most iconic Latina actresses of all time and one of the most sophisticated women to have seen the movies. Her irreverent personality and indisputable elegance have served as inspiration for collections of prestigious clothing and jewelry brands. It is precisely one of those jewels made in her honor that became the protagonist during the most recent Cannes Film Festival.

It was the Italian actress Monica Bellucci who arrived at one of the galas of the festival looking very elegant with a classic and elegant black suit, which she complemented with a spectacular necklace of diamonds and emeralds, brought from Colombia, in the shape of a crocodile from the jewelry house Cartier, Felix's favorite.

This piece is part of Cartier's new High Jewelry Collection and is inspired by the necklace that belonged to the late Mexican actress. In fact, it was created by the same sculptor who once made Felix's piece.

The idea to create a crocodile-shaped necklace was from Felix herself who, apparently, had an obsession with this reptile and even had one as a pet. In fact, they say that one day the actress arrived at the boutique of that brand in Paris with the exotic pet and asked the jewelers to make a replica of it in the form of a necklace. The jewelers worked for several months and then gave the actress an impressive necklace that had two articulated crocodiles, one in yellow gold with 1,000 diamonds and the other in white gold with more than 1,000 emeralds. Furthermore, the crocodiles could be separated and used as brooches.

This became Felix's favorite piece and is now part of Cartier's important collection of historical jewelery.
