Cardi B closed the pink carpet at the Met Gala 2019 with a show look. Her flamboyant red dress that wore a tail of around 10 feet and nearly 30,000 feathers, by designer Thome Brown, left everyone speechless. To accompany her look, the singer of Dominican descent decided to wear simple makeup that would highlight her best features: her lips and eyes.
The person in charge of achieving this elegant look was the celebrity makeup artist Erika La Pearl, who told us that she joined the famous Pat McGrath to come up with the concept. "[She] just thought it had to be simple because the dress was eye-catching," said the expert, who used all the products in the Pat McGrath Labs line to put makeup on the star. On her eyes, she applied the matte earth tone Mothership Palette and Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner to create a cat-eye effect. The Pearl also used very long House of Lashes false eyelashes to enlarge the eye. "She loved those tabs. I was saving them especially for an occasion like this.”
As for her vampire lips, the expert applied the Perma Gel Ultra Lip Pencil in Manhattan and the MatteTrans lipstick in the Guinevere shade. To finish, she used the highlighter on the Skin Fetish palette in pink and Pond's Cold Cream to remove makeup that might have fallen on her cheeks. "It is the best tip I can give," said La Pearl, and Cardi B loves to use the cream.
