Thanks to the new wave of Dominican models, the Dominican Republic is on everyone's lips and it is no longer only associated with meringue, beautiful beaches or warm people with a lot of flavor. Now the small island of the Caribbean is known as the birthplace of some of the most successful models of the moment. That, thanks to young people such as Lineisy Montero and Hiandra Martínez, among others, who have positioned themselves in a privileged position in the world of haute couture and who along with other of their countrywomen have just made history in the Resort 2020 collection parade of Dior, in Marrakech, Morocco.

The prestigious brand, now in charge of the designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, presented a dream collection at the imposing El Badi Palace in that city, where the models walked around a fountain lit by candles and bonfires. In the collection, made in collaboration with local artists and celebrating the vast culture of the African country, the suits reigned with flowing skirts and oversized sleeves, as well as original and striking African prints, lace and fabrics.

But without a doubt, for Latinos the most relevant thing of the night was the fact that seven of us walked in the important parade and in the presence of celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Karlie Kloss and Lupita Nyong'o. Dominican models Lineisy Montero, Anyelina Rosa, Hiandra Martínez, Kimberly Gelabert, Licett Morillo, Manuela Sánchez and Annibelos Báez adorned the impressive catwalk and put not only their country but also Latin America back on high.

Of course, this is not the first time that young people fill us with pride. Recall that the year for the first time six Dominicans were part of a Valentino show, a feat that only models from Brazil and Russia had achieved. Thank you girls for putting Latina women on top!
