If you read the alarming United Nations report on the urgency of taking action against climate change, perhaps you are one of the many fashionistas looking for alternatives to fast fashion, which consists of producing tons and tons of clothing more or less cheap and designed to last a short time and be quickly replaced by another passing trend.
The opposite is slow fashion, also known as sustainable or conscious fashion and fortunately there are more and more designers who join this movement. Today we present to you Loulette, a very special wedding dress brand that manufactures all its designs in New York, with lots of love and natural materials.
"We believe in quality over quantity and we use only the finest materials and the most delicate artisan techniques to make garments that become family heirlooms that are passed from generation to generation," they explain on their website.
The designers behind Loulette, Marteal Mayer and LaTimberly Johnson, produce all their designs in New York, by hand and with mostly organic fabrics and avoiding the use of chemical dyes.
To ensure it reduces its environmental impact, the firm collaborates with Fabscrap, a Brooklyn company that is responsible for collecting and recycling all the leftover pieces of fabric that are not used in the manufacture of the dresses so that they do not end up in the form of mountains in a landfill.
They also donate part of their profits, which this year have multiplied by 3 as confirmed in their Instagram account, to charitable causes and initiatives such as The Honey Bee Project that supports the conservation of bees and local agriculture.
