Actress Penelope Cruz has always shown solidarity with nature by being part of campaigns for the environment. This time, the actress has teamed up with PETA Latino to ask consumers to discard the skins from their wish and gift lists this Christmas.
The Oscar winner is the image of the new PETA Latino ad in which she poses with a feline. The main message of the ad is written “Protect animals. Never wear fur.”
"Finally, many designers are discarding fur, and I am looking forward to the day when no animal is caged or trapped and killed by fur," says the actress, who appeared in an anti-fur ad for PETA in 2012.
The announcement, released just in time for the holiday shopping season, follows recent commitments from major fashion designers and retailers, including Burberry, Gucci, Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg, John Galliano and many others, to remain 100 percent skin-free. And Cruz, who ironically got an Emmy nomination for her role in the hit television series The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story as Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace (who has also just banned fur on her brand) She is thrilled to see such positive changes in the industry.
Among other projects, Cruz continues to reap success on the small screen.
The Spanish usually refuses to make films that include violence, but the Spanish actress could not miss the opportunity to star in the film Loving Pablo, about the controversial and ruthless life of one of the bloodiest drug lords in the world, the Colombian Pablo Escobar. Together with her husband Javier Bardem, the mother of Luna and Leo, she gives life to the love story that the drug trafficker lived with a renowned journalist who fled her country to take refuge in the United States, based on the book Hating Pablo, Loving Escobar.
