For Nathalie Kriado, having a successful brand in the United States and having famous clients such as Chiquinquirá Delgado, Alejandra Espinoza and Rashel Díaz have been a dream come true. And since she decided to launch into the world of fashion and open a boutique in Miami, the Puerto Rican designer had been so focused on growing her company that she had not had the opportunity to bring her designs to her country and present them within the framework of San Juan Moda, the most important platform on the island.

Luckily this year the designer will present her designs for the first time in Puerto Rico and we spoke with her to tell us how she feels and share with us details of this collection that is so important and special to her.

How do you feel presenting your new collection in your country for the first time?

I am very excited. I feel very happy. This presentation means a lot to me personally. I moved from Puerto Rico to Miami a little over a decade ago, so showing up at San Juan Moda is like a reward for the effort, work and dedication that we have been doing for a long time to the brand.”

Why haven't you done it before?

“The truth is that I have been focused a lot on strengthening the brand here in Miami, working on different projects, and it had not been the perfect opportunity for us. I had so many commitments, but I had always had the illusion of showing a collection in my country”.

What inspired you to achieve this special collection?

“In all my collections, I am inspired by a little bit of everything around me, from the trips I make to the experiences I live. But my greatest inspiration comes from the admiration of the woman of these times, a strong and daring woman. Celebrating that self-confidence is what I seek with each of the designs I make."

What are we going to see in your collection?

“In my new collection you will be able to see a fusion of artisan work and a lot of attention to detail. I focused on each design having a factor or element that stands out. Be it in the pattern, lace, explosive, geometric, animal spirit prints and asymmetric cuts, or striking pigment contrasts. Of course, I always look for a balance in each design”.

Do you have any piece that you made thinking of your country?

“Puerto Rico has suffered a lot this past year due to Hurricane Maria. One of the things I like the most about my country is the greenery of nature and its landscapes and much of it was no longer after the hurricane. It was very hard for me to arrive in my country and see the drastic change that it suffered. I don't think I chose a particular design, but I did decide to include some prints and color ranges with tropical vibes that remind me of the island. It is a tribute to the rebirth of nature and to our fighting spirit, because now Puerto Ricans are more united than before.”

What do you expect from this first parade on the island?

Enjoy it every minute. It is a great opportunity to show my work and who I am for those who do not know me. Let them know that here is a Puerto Rican who represents them, who gives everything and who is very proud of where she comes from.”

What type of woman do you design for?

"Design for the natural, dynamic, versatile, glamorous, fighter and brave woman."

Why do you think so many celebrities choose your designs?

“I think it is because my designs have their own style and convey a clear point of view. They are feminine designs with modern and avant-garde touches, with impeccable finishes”.

What is the secret of your success?

I believe that there is no secret as such. I think that with effort, passion and a lot of dedication you get to get what you want”.
