For Rosie Mercado, weighing more than 400 pounds meant receiving the rejection of many people and, above all, feeling how the doors that she needed to pass to achieve her dreams were closed. “You are pretty in the face but in the body you are very fat. You can't be on television. It will not happen, give up, says the beautiful presenter and blogger of Mexican origin. “They lovingly reject you, they reject you at work, they reject you in your family. Any kind of rejection one receives hurts.” However, the humiliations and obstacles she faced never made her take her finger off the line, let alone stop struggling to reach her goals.

"Blessed be God that I had a great support with my parents full of values, they taught me to fight, to keep going," says the model. “From that point on I entered a beauty pageant, [I was] 420 pounds then. I learned from that. I met many women. All those chubby girls had something that I didn't have, security.”

Thanks to photos taken by a friend, she entered the world of modeling and was invited to participate in a reality show, and now to be the only Latina in the new CBS show, Face the Truth, which premieres this fall.

“I have to work on Face the Truth as someone who is giving advice. We work with people helping them find those answers, how to achieve success,”says Mercado in an interview we conducted in the magazine's beauty closet. “She will be a father because being a Latina, representing the Latin woman, representing women with curves. The doors are finally opening in Hollywood.”
