The young woman had to withdraw due to tweets she published a few years ago.

Just days after being chosen as the first woman in a hijab to appear in an L'Oréal hair campaign, vlogger Amena Khan decided to quit her contract, all because of tweets she posted a few years ago. It turns out that the young woman, who runs a YouTube channel with almost half a million followers where she does makeup tutorials and talks about fashion, expressed criticism on her social networks in 2014 of Israel's policy regarding its conflict with the Palestinians, which now came back to light.

"I deeply regret the content of the tweets I made in 2014 and sincerely apologize for the anger and pain I caused," Khan wrote on his Instagram account. “Supporting diversity is one of my passions and I do not discriminate against anyone. I have decided to delete them since they do not represent the message of harmony that I want to transmit.”

He also explained that due to the scope of those messages, which in no way represent his feelings, he had decided to withdraw from the campaign, an action that was very well received by L'Oréal.

"L'Oréal Paris is committed to tolerance and respect for everyone," said a representative of the company in a statement. "We agree with his decision to withdraw from the campaign."

It was last week when the company announced Khan as one of the people who would participate in the new Elvive World of Care line campaign. Now it only remains to wait if the brand will replace it with another girl who also wears hijab.
