About to release three films with some of the most prestigious actors and directors in Hollywood, we interviewed the Mexican of the moment about her style secrets, yes, but also about how important it is for her to give voice to her countrymen in the United States and feel powerful in your own skin.

We recently saw you on the Baby Driver tape and next year you will be in Alita: Battle Ange l. What can you tell us about that character?

I can not say anything! They have us almost almost tied up, but what I can say is that it is [a science fiction movie] starring Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz and Jennifer Connelly. I was lucky to make an amazing character in that movie and it's something completely different from what I had done previously. I'm also excited to do a type of character like the one I do as a Latina who doesn't necessarily have any stereotypes attached to her and show that Latinos can be represented in a thousand different ways.

Right after that movie you will release another one with a very feminine cast, right?

Yes, [directed by] Robert Zemeckis and starring Steve Carrell, Gwendelie Christie, Diane Kruger, and Leslie Mann. We are all protagonists and I love it because it is a pretty cool character and I will be representing a cast of women from all over the world to a Latina in a completely different way that I think I have never seen before.

You are very busy with so many projects, what is your beauty secret to always see yourself as impeccable

I try to see myself in the best possible way, but I would not say that I look impeccable either because I am human and that is normal. I like to tell girls that not every day is going to be your best day and not every day you are going to look pretty and that is also fine. But you also have to take care of yourself and have a certain awareness of how to pamper your body. I try to hydrate a lot and drink a lot of water, that's my secret. I use a lot of sunscreen, it's something I learned from my mother when I was very young, not to tan my face or skin and also be careful for skin cancer. We live in a time when global warming is at its maximum and the ozone layer is destroyed and our skin is exposed to sunlight every day.

What products do you use in your day to day?

I am very aware of taking care of my skin and no matter how late I come back from the set or from an event, I do the Double Cleansing Method every day. Neutrogena also has make-up remover wipes that are very easy [to use], I always carry the little ones in my bag and take off my makeup in the car. I always, always, always wash my face with the Deep Cleansing Gentle Scrub, also from Neutrogena, because the pores open, close, it's cold, they absorb the contamination, and you have to clean them thoroughly. In five minutes you can do it, you get home and treat your skin. Never fall asleep with makeup on. Also drink plenty of water and exercise because it keeps you high on stamina and high endorphins and fills you with energy.

And what makes you feel powerful?

When my skin looks hydrated, beautiful, shiny and healthy is when I feel best, when I'm not in my prime, I'm more like hiding, sorry. Over time I have realized that [feeling good] comes from within and from a discipline too, and working with Neutrogena I have realized how important it is to take care of your skin. [As] as we are careful to exercise and eat well, you have to take care of the skin in the same way and educate yourself and know what is best for your skin type and love you. It is very important as a woman to pamper yourself. Sometimes we are very hard on ourselves and we fall apart, but it is important to consent sometimes. I love to motivate other women to give each other a lot of love and love.

When it comes to going to the red carpet, what is your process to choose to choose an outfit?

It depends a lot on the type of event it is or how I feel that day. I am half tomboy by nature, I like that half masculine look with feminine touches: I wear many tailor suits, pants, t-shirts and shirts, it is very rare to see me in a skirt. At the end of the day I think that your wardrobe has to reflect your personality and I am that, I am a girl that when I have to be feminine I can be very feminine, but have that strength and energy a little more masculine too. I am also fortunate to work with an incredible team of stylists. Anita PatricksonHe is my stylist, he understands me perfectly and you know what I like and what I don't like. I like to take risks and it is always fun to play with trends, but there are some that I like to avoid and I create more a timeless look that can be eternal. I like elegance.

What are your favorite designers?

I have thousands! I don't like just choosing one because it also depends on the collections. Alexander McQueen is one of my favorites, I love Burberry and Dior. I also like thrift-shopping and in Los Angeles I am lucky enough to be able to find vintage stores where there are old jackets, or I go to the markets and find jackets from about 50 years ago and that have already been used by five people. I am very relaxed in that regard and I like to play with trends.

What 5 products will you take with you to a remote island?

I would take sunscreen, the [hydrating] Hydro Boost Moisturizer, lip colors and I would take hydrating for my lips. For hair I would take Olaplex [repair treatment] and perhaps natural coconut oil.

And as for perfume?

I would take a perfume, but I never like to reveal which one because I think it is my little secret.

Who are some of your style icons?

I have many. I love the elegance of Cate Blanchett, I love her bearing and the way she has always been timeless in her style. I also really like the slightly more French style. I don't have a very specific type of fashion, I feel that many women in this world inspire me, from Carolina de Monaco, to my mom or my friends or my coworkers. It has to be more a personal matter, I like to make my own fashion icon and be more honest as I feel and with the things that I would make as my own decision.

Of all your red carpets, what has been your favorite gala look and what has been one where you said 'what a horror!'?

Well anyway it is very difficult to replace that question because I have had many. I really liked the Marchesa that I wore at the Baby Driver premiere in London, I love it, I wore a tailor suit for the VMAs, in camel color with a slightly wine-colored shirt, an amazing shirt. I have so many different favorites.

And the worst?

Oh no, I can't tell you one, I have many. Rather, it is the general look [that I wore] about 5 years ago, that I didn't even know how to do my hair and makeup. I did makeup wrong, all wrong, hair color … I've had bad times, no way.

What do you like most about being a Latina?

Everything. I love being Latina. It is so different, I love our values, I love how we are always aware of other people and the black humor that we have, how fun we are, how partying we are, how relaxed we are. We are also workers, independent, determined … and how women educate us to be superworkers. The truth is that [the] more time I spend outside my country the more I appreciate my own culture and the more I appreciate education, values, religion and all the things that were instilled in me from a very young age as a Latina. I love my skin color, I love my eye color and I love my fiery and explosive personality with lots of eggs.

Considering the political moment that we live in the United States with the political environment that we currently live in, what are your hopes for other Latinos that are currently in the country?

It is a critical time for us [when we have to] raise awareness, take action and unite. When I say it I mean it, not because it is fashionable and we are all talking about uniting, it is really important and I think we have to dig and find the information about what is happening. It is very important that all Mexican-Americans vote for their senators so that there can be a difference in the immigration status and that the DACA is still present because there are many people who are going to be deported from here to our country, who in fact in His life has not even been known to him, and that can be very bad for Mexico's infrastructure since we are a country that is overpopulated and we already have enough poverty. I would like to be in Mexico and help people affected by the earthquake, but at the same time I do what is within my reach and I am lucky to have a voice in the United States and to be able to share my point of view with the Americans and educate people about the Mexican culture and how hard working we are and inform them that So unfair are so many circumstances to us. For me it is very important and I have always been very vocal on the subject, I feel that I have a great responsibility as a Latina to be active. I've been rallying for DACA and I'm going to go [to Mexico] in the middle of next summer to campaign for people to know that if certain senators are elected and selected they can help Donald Trump be eventually removed.
