A woman who had recently traveled to China could be one of the reasons for the high rate of contagion in a short time that has been registered in South Korea.

An investigation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) identified a woman named as the 31st patient who could have infected more than 1,000 people in the city of Daegu and in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

According to the Reuters news agency, it is unknown how the 61-year-old woman contracted the disease and before knowing she was infected she had traveled to highly crowded places.

The information indicates that the patient was involved in a traffic accident in early February, was in a hospital, attended various religious services in the Church of a religious sect in Daegu and a buffet lunch with a friend at a hotel.

According to the news agency, it is estimated that more than 60 percent of the confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country came from the mentioned temple. Recently, this church was involved in scandal after Pastor Lee Man-hee was accused of spreading the idea that the faithful were safe there, for which he had to ask for forgiveness.

In that country, the first case of the virus was first confirmed on January 20, when a 35-year-old Chinese woman, who flew from Wuhan to Incheon International Airport, Seoul.

So far, authorities have reported 8,565 total cases of contagion and 93 deaths, the news agency reported on its website.
