Luck smiles at Ximena Duque, not only because she has an important character in the novel La fan that premieres in early 2017 on Telemundo, but also because of her surprising and emotional commitment to businessman Jay Adkins. We talked to her about her new life, plans to launch a jewelry collection and those beauty tricks that keep her always radiant. Don't miss her incredible tips.
Tell us about your projects as an actress. Do you have your sights on Hollywood? The fan is a comedy. Everything is a joke, we work super relaxed. My character is called Adriana. It is very fresh. The love story is hilarious. She is the rich woman who falls in love with the poor. I am enjoying myself every day. I am at Days of Our Lives. They left my story open because they wanted me to continue. It is something that I have pending. God willing, by finishing this project I can go back to do Days of Our Lives in Los Angeles and finally move now. I think that by the beginning of next year we are there. My son is very happy and that helps me make that decision. I would love to do a series, cinema.
What can you tell us about your jewelry line? We are trying to find the best scenario to launch this. I want a percentage of the sales to go to some charity. I want to use my name. It will have an X, the first initial. We will have necklaces, earrings, rings. I am also thinking of something for pets. I think we are going to use [my dog] Oreo as a model for some photos. My style is more hippie chic. I'm not very diamond. Now if you give me one, I'm not going to be mad! I am more relaxed, with long necklaces or chokers. I love pink, aquamarine, purple. The idea is to do it all online. It would be a cyber store.
How do you take care of your hair and skin? I am very natural. For my hair coconut oil has worked a lot for me. That gives it shine, it hydrates it. When I go to the beach or the pool I get a hydrating massage. You can put any conditioner you have at home and you leave with a tail.
In my daily life off set I don't wear much makeup. I put on my spray base, my blush, I paint my eyelashes and my eyebrows, and that's it. For a party or red carpet I like the smoky eye.
What did you learn from the women in your family about beauty? I learned from my grandmother and my mother to use aloe for my hair, for my skin. In the morning I make a smoothie, I put aloe, honey and orange juice. You take it on an empty stomach and it is a diuretic. Aloe is the ritual of the whole family at home.
How do you maintain your enviable figure?I love eat. I go to the gym to eat. As much! I have to eat every three hours. Like egg whites with spinach, cheese, whole wheat bread, that's my breakfast, or homemade oatmeal whole wheat pancakes. For lunch protein (meat or chicken with salad or brown rice). I am very rice for being Colombian. I like to cook. For dinner like a little fish. I don't eat carbohydrates at night. I eat a salad with fish or chicken, something light. Snacking on a protein bar, fruit, almond or oatmeal between meals. I try to do cardio for at least an hour a day, run or walk, I do weights. I work the leg, the pomp and the arms. Yoga and I are not good friends. I do not have much patience. I tried for mental health because you relax, but I don't like it. With the child I love going out to ride a bicycle.
Some of his favorite products:
I get it in Colombia. It regenerates the color of the skin”. Acid Mantle-N Lotion from Bayer.
"I wash my face with rose water and that hydrates your skin." Rose Water Body Splash, by De la Cruz.
"It's wonderful under the eyes, on the eyelids, on the lines of expression." Vaseline by Vaseline.
“I put on a mask of mayonnaise and avocado [in my hair]. I leave it for three hours. You can put it on before going to sleep with a hat”.
What designers do you like and what are some favorite pieces that cannot be missing in your closet? I love Valentino, Carolina Herrera, Dior. I like to see the catwalks to see the trends. I like to try different things, to be experimenting. Not necessarily the expensive is what works best for you. I am very jeans, tennis and blouse, relaxed. I like long skirts. I change ten times before going outside. I love heels, although I am more of platforms. I like sandals. I like to wear big hats or beanies.
