Christian Louboutin Designs Uniforms For Cuban Olympic Athletes

The Olympics are approaching and athletes are preparing their outfits to look impeccable during the most important ceremonies of the competition. Of course, the Cuban team could not be left behind and thanks to the designer Christian Louboutin and the French online store SprotyHenri.com, the athletes will look as regal as the other participants in the next Olympic games that begin on August 5 at the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The CLxSportyHenri collection has two jackets, one red - for men - and the other in cream - for women - which are combined with black pants and a white shirt. At the closing of this event and other important appearances, the 120 Cuban athletes will also wear Christian Louboutin shoes - tennis for them and sandals for them - created taking into account comfort as well as style.

"What fascinates me is the elegance and fluidity of movement of someone who is in control of their body," Louboutin said in an interview. “At the Olympics these athletes put on their clothes to compete and immediately become these gravity-defying superheroes. We designed the outfits to celebrate the moment they become human again while still in that moment of glory, still in the light, but ready to return to the real world. We really want them to continue to feel amazing while looking spectacular.”

To create the pieces, both the store and the designer took into account the emblematic aspects of the island, as well as the opinion of active players and some already retired.

Other famous designers have also created both uniforms and formal outfits for teams from other countries. Ralph Lauren and Nike created those for the United States team, DSquared2 for Canada's formal uniform, while Lacoste created for France and Stella McCartney for British athletes.
