Today, September 8, National Hair Donation Day, Selena Gomez joins the Pantene firm's Beautiful Lenghts campaign to raise cancer awareness and urge everyone to donate either money or hair.

"Hi guys, I need your help," says the singer, who since June has been the new ambassador for Pantene, in a video posted on her Instagram page. “I am supporting Pantene Beautiful Lenghts, a program that donates real hair wigs to women who are receiving cancer treatments. So join me now and donate.”

Campaign # 8or8 encourages donating $ 8 or eight inches of hair to create wigs for women who have lost theirs due to cancer treatments.

Since 2006 the Beautiful Lengths program has been donating real hair wigs and since then, with the help of the American Cancer Society, has put a smile on the faces of some 42,000 women.

So far 800,000 pigtails have been donated to Beautiful Lengths and initiative # 8or8 seeks to increase this number. Just eight eight-inch tails are enough to create a wig and restore a woman's self-esteem.

Last year, the Mexican actress and singer Maite Perroni also joined the cause.
