In 1992 Christian Louboutin created a shoe inspired by the Pop Art and Andy Warhol movement. Disappointed with the prototype, although it was exact to its design, he thought that something was missing. Then he saw his assistant painting his nails red and spontaneously took the enamel and painted the sole of the shoe in that color, giving rise to the unmistakable symbol of the firm.

Now, the designer returns the "favor" to this beauty product with the launch of his first collection of nail polish, whose first color, how could it be otherwise, is "Louboutin Red".

"Red is a classic element for women," Louboutin tells People en Español. “I wanted to give beauty back what she gave me. I decided to go back to my roots, my red sole, and it is legitimate to do the same so that somehow it all started.”

To this red enamel, which will be available on August 1, 30 more colors are added, on sale on September 1, grouped into three families: The Pops, The Noirs, and The Nudes, each baptized with the name of a iconic shoe or wallet in Louboutin history.

"My team and I work with leather and fabric in search of the color palette," explains the creative. "My vision was to create a wide range of shades, matching the colors of the shoe collection, that favored different skin tones."

Louboutin's idea was not limited to devising colors. With the intention of creating a true art object, he wanted to design a wrapper that would beautify any place it occupied. This is how the bottle was born, inspired by the European architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries, which makes it seem that the enamel is a colorful jewel encased in fine glass with a lid reminiscent of the sharp stiletto heels characteristic of its footwear.

"When a woman walks in Loubotin shoes, she may begin to walk more slowly, and when she does, she begins to see the world around her differently," says the designer. “Similarly, Louboutin's nail polishes encourage the wearer to take their time and enjoy the nail polishing experience. The pleasure of the object as well as the pleasure of color”, he concludes.
