Since becoming a mother 9 years ago, actress Jennifer Garner has had to balance her schedule between film sets and school activities, but the wife of famed actor Ben Affleck is not complaining.

However, he makes sure that the projects he accepts are characters he “loves” to be able to leave his favorite role - being a mother - for a while and leave his troops in the hands of his in-laws: Violet, 9 years old, Seraphina, 5, and Samuel, 3.

"I make sure everyone has notes in their lunch boxes every day and that they [guess] who is going to [eat] something special and decide who I read the most [in] the morning," the actress told PEOPLE about her daily routine.

Her husband is also in that routine, with whom she will be 10 years married this year.

"I'm going to visit Ben [on set] to make sure he's okay," he said of his trip to visit Affleck in Atlanta, where he is filming The Accountant. "That's what you do [when you're a mom]."

But when he needs some advice, Garner turns to a special friend: actress Reese Wihterspoon. "If I meet Reese, she and I have so much to talk about," Garner said excitedly during the press conference for her new movie Danny Collins, where she performs alongside Al Pacino. “We can be out on the street and [ask] 'What did you do about this? How did you handle this other one? I am so grateful to that kind of friend.”

Although Garner loves to cook, attend his children's classes, and lead the Girl Scouts' third-grade troop, he admits that he sometimes needs to surround himself with grown-ups.

"The other day just happened to me where I thought, 'I think I'm ready to be on set and talk to adults,'" she laughed. "Send Batman."
