As a good first-time mom, singer Ivy Queen has enjoyed every second of her 1-year-3-month-old daughter Naiovy's growth. We had a quiet birthday, we did not make much noise. I played dolls with her because I dressed her, I made her hair and we both took photos of each other,”says the diva, who lives in Miami with her little girl and her partner, the Puerto Rican choreographer Xavier Sánchez.

Her duties as a mother did not take her away from the recording studio, where she gave life to her new production Vendetta, which includes four albums with unpublished themes in four musical genres: urban, salsa, bachata and hip hop. This could well be the most ambitious challenge in the career of the Puerto Rican artist for whom there seem to be no limits. What have you learned in your first year as a mother? Ivy Queen tells us here.
1. There is no need to despair: “The only advice is to be patient because you don't know everything. You go like a student learning. Everything changes you. Your life course changes, the hours you slept, the care to be given to the baby is in the baby's schedule, not in your own. You are going to feel drained, so patience is the primary thing to cultivate.”
2. The bond between mother and baby is unique: Many women told me: 'You are going to breastfeed to create a bond with your baby.' You have the bond with your baby since it is in the womb. There is no one to take it from you. Naobi can be with his grandmother, his aunt, and Naiovy knows when Mom arrived.”
3. We must learn to delegate: "I am grateful to my parents-in-law and my sister-in-law who are the ones -when we go to work to find our daily bread- they stay with Naiovy and come to the rescue."
4. Dad plays a great role: “It is a team effort. Xavier, when I have migraines, he treats me to Naiovy. He likes that she goes outside the house, he takes her to feel the grass on the little feet. She loves to see little birds go by. That moment is hers and Dad's.”
5. Learning is mutual: “I am still learning. I learn from her and she from me. Naiovy watches everything. It never ceases to amaze me.”
