David Zepeda Promises 'great Chemistry' With Aracely Arámbula In La Doña 2

This is how excited David Zepeda speaks of the second season of La doña, a soap opera that lands tonight in Hispanic prime time with a renewed cast and that marks his debut on Telemundo after years as an exclusive artist on Televisa. Within hours of its premiere, the Mexican actor attends People en Español via telephone to tell us all the details of this awaited melodrama that he leads along with Aracely Arámbula and Carlos Ponce and that promises to captivate the public from the first chapter.

Your character is clear to us that he is not the typical soap opera heartthrob, is he?

I have never worked on these types of characters of the typical soap opera heartthrob. I always seek to give it greater depth, greater realism, greater truth. Fortunately I have had characters who lend themselves to it and directors and stories that really go beyond the characteristics you mention and this time I play a very ambitious character, a character neither good nor bad, he simply has his goals and his way of seeing the lifetime.

It is the first time that you have such a great son in a fiction, how was the experience?

Yes, it is the first time. This character has many challenges and this characteristic did. The truth is that it is irrelevant to me. The wonderful thing is that I have a family and from there come a series of very intense events. They will already know my family, my wife, their traumas, their fears, as well as the terrifying conflicts that my son has towards life, towards women and one as a father is discovering it and it is an enormous suffering because it can be terrible to see suffer a child and see him involved in the situations in which he is involved.

Did you get to see something from the previous season?

I just saw a chapter. I do know what it is obviously about but this is a whole new story so I didn't get too involved in the first season.

The series marks your debut on Telemundo, how has the network welcomed you?

Wonderful. Telemundo is a very important chain. I greatly appreciate the invitation they made for this character and I thank the Telemundo executives because they believed in me for this project. I worked in a spectacular way. They let me create, they let me propose. I am from wherever I want and characters like this, attractive, complex, are presented to me. This time Telemundo was a great option to continue growing.

What would you say has been the main difference between Televisa and Telemundo?

I see it as family. You come to a family and one adapts to that family or you don't really adapt as much, but they are two different families with the same objective, with a different way of working but ultimately telling a story. And what unites Telemundo and Televisa is the great commitment they have to the public and one as an actor the great responsibility that he has to give credibility to a character. I had an incredible time. I adapt perfectly to the different producer families. Finally one gets to create. It was a great experience.

How different will the David Zepeda be that we see in La doña compared to your previous characters?

One of the characteristics that I have struggled as an actor, and I have prepared for it for so many years, is that I am versatile. I can make a variety of characters. I have a wide range of characteristics that I use when giving life to a character and obviously that is the biggest challenge, to do something different from what I have been doing in previous projects, to surprise the public with credibility, with passion, with dedication, with great Direction team…

What has it been like to have Aracely as a partner?

Wonderful. She is a very committed girl, a woman who loves what she does and a great actress. We have great chemistry on set and that's the main thing, that people see that delivery, that chemistry and when necessary that great hatred that the characters have at some point.

What will the relationship be like between your characters?

Our characters are very powerful and at the end of the day there is a great attraction, there is an admiration and she turns to me to help her on very delicate issues and there she realizes that I have somehow good feelings and there is a very strong attraction between both and at the same time circumstances that keep them apart.
